02 / ERKENNUNGCHARACTERS

The plant has hairy leaves and whitish-blue flowers. This combination is insufficient for a secure species identification. Wood’s key requires examination of corolla length, inflorescence architecture, leaf shape and arrangement, and the indumentum of the inflorescence axis.

03 / LEBENSRAUM UND KULTURHABITAT AND CULTIVATION

Reading the habitat

LandschaftLandscape
High mountain-pass habitat in the western Yemeni highlands. August falls within the summer rainy season; fog, cloud and orographic precipitation can periodically moisten exposed elevations.
KlimaClimate
A seasonally semi-arid highland climate, cooler than the lowlands, with cooler nights and a summer rainfall maximum.
Cultivation inference
Provide bright, airy conditions and excellent drainage; water moderately during summer growth and allow drying between waterings. The elevation argues against persistently hot nights and stagnant humid air.
