01 / VERBREITUNGDISTRIBUTION
Natürliche VerbreitungNatural distribution
The species is restricted to Socotra. It grows on open rocky slopes and cliffs in semi-deciduous woodland at roughly 450 to 1,100 metres.

02 / ERKENNUNGCHARACTERS
Flower and habit
An erect succulent shrublet or bushy herb to about 40 centimetres. Opposite leaves are ovate to elliptic and crenate. The pale, distinctly bilabiate flower has a hairy corolla tube and exserted stamens.
03 / LEBENSRAUM UND KULTURHABITAT AND CULTIVATION
Reading the habitat
- MikrohabitatMicrohabitat
Open rocky slopes and cliffs within semi-deciduous woodland, at roughly 450–1,100 metres. It therefore occupies comparatively exposed sites rather than closed shade.
- GeologieGeology
The species account records rocky sites but does not restrict the plant to one rock type. Within its elevational range Socotra includes both limestone plateaux and the igneous rocks of the Haggeher Mountains.
- KlimaClimate
Warm and seasonally dry, yet strongly shaped by elevation, monsoon and fog. Rainfall is irregular, while upland sites can receive additional moisture from cloud and mist.
- Klima am dokumentierten FundortClimate at the documented locality
No sufficiently precise locality is documented for this accession. No accession-specific temperature or precipitation values are therefore given; the general climatic setting of the natural range remains the basis.
- Cultivation inference
Grow warm, bright and airy. A coarse, fast-drying mix of mineral components with a variable organic fraction resembles a rock crevice better than persistently wet soil. Water thoroughly during visible growth, allow clear drying between waterings and reduce water during resting phases.
