LebensraumHabitat
In a broad taxonomic sense, the complex inhabits seasonally dry savanna, Acacia-Commiphora bushland, rocky slopes, wadis and open dry woodland from the Sahel through north-eastern and East Africa to the south-western Arabian Peninsula. Rainfall, altitude and dry-season length vary greatly, so leaf fall and the onset of growth differ regionally.
Keep warm and sunny, watering regularly during growth but allowing full drying. Treat leaf fall as a signal to reduce water; the latex is poisonous.

Nutzung, Giftigkeit und GrenzenUse, toxicity and limits

Viele Berichte stammen jedoch aus Regionen, deren Pflanzen heute teils A. arabicum, A. dhofarense, A. somalense oder anderen Formen zugerechnet werden. Die Seite führt diese Traditionen daher als Komplexangaben und nicht als universelle Nutzung einer eng gefassten Art.Arrow and fish poisons, pest control, and external or ritual healing practices are recorded for the broadly defined A. obesum complex. Many reports, however, come from regions whose plants are now sometimes assigned to A. arabicum, A. dhofarense, A. somalense or other forms. The page therefore treats these as records for the complex rather than universal uses of a narrowly defined species.
